The desire to stay young and maintain youthful looks has been a preoccupation for Mankind for hundreds of years. The “Youthful Looks” National Seminar will teach you what to recommend to your patients and yourselves to really make a positive difference.

Thousands of scientific research studies have clearly demonstrated that modest interventions in diet, exercise, nutrition and single-gene modulation in the laboratory setting beneficially and significantly impact healthy function in old-age. Many of these interventions also modify maximum lifespan by 20 to 800% as well. With rapid advancements in biomedical technologies related to research specifically focused on elucidating treatments for senescent disorders and modulating the metabolic dysfunctions associated with old age, it will not be long before  effective interventions will become widely available to modulate the aging process itself in humans. This seminar will look at evidence based strategies to apply this knowledge in practice right away.

Part One now available on line: “Healthy Aging – Youthful Looks”

The desire to stay young and maintain youthful looks has been a preoccupation for Mankind for hundreds of years. Anti-aging is such a popular topic that there are over 16 million websites dedicated to the subject! Most offer a product that claims help to stave off the aging process, so it is a very difficult know what to do, if staying younger is your goal. It is also very challenging to know how good the science is and how honest are these claims and products.

A Healhty Skin Reflects a Healthy You

The Nutri-Link National Seminar – “Healthy Aging – Youthful Looks” – will teach you simple and biologically sound nutritional recommendations for achieving just that, which you can then share with patients, as well as incorporate into your own lives.

Cutting through the hype to concentrate on the areas where clinical and research evidence offer the strongest correlation, Antony will present compelling strategies and case examples where Nutritional Therapy has introduced a new quality of function and focussed on healthy aging and in particular on the appearance of skin and body mass.

  • The ability to help achieve more optimal skin health, more youthful looks on the outside and on the inside (we hope) is a powerful tool to have in your clinical repertoire.
  • The seminar will also teach you how to maintain lean muscle tissue, a vital aspect of maintaining body shape and youthfulness.
  • Additionally, we will share with you key recommendations on how to remain young and promote healthy longevity from a lifestyle perspective.
  • As with all Nutri-Link seminars we intend to give you, the practitioner, more confidence in the subject matter, thereby increasing your ability to help a wider range of people with greater efficacy. You will be given practical information on how to support your patients’ aging processes and told why.

With an ever-aging population, the role of the Nutritional Therapist will increasingly need to be about managing aging successfully, and this National Seminar is one of three focusing on Healthy Aging. The remaining two in the series are entitled as follows:

Part Two: Healthy Aging – Cardiovascular Rejuvenation

Weds 3rd November 2010 – Institute of Physics

A Healthy Heart = Healthy Aging

The Nutri-Link National Seminar – “Healthy Aging – Cardiovascular Rejuvenation” – will teach you simple and biologically sound nutritional recommendations for achieving measurable benefits to the cardiovascular system which you can then share and witness with patients, as well as incorporate into your own and your family’s lives.

Antony will present researched methods for reducing imbalances within the circulatory system helping you to successfully support patients who have raised blood pressure, elevated blood lipids and other vascular disorders.  Where possible, case histories will exemplify the benefits of targeted nutritional therapy.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the prime reasons we do not reach our optimal age, being responsible for 70,000 deaths and 110,000 heart attacks in England each year. If the incidence of cardiovascular disease can be reduced it will achieve one of the most powerful means we have to slow the aging process.

You will learn these things:

  • Key Data from population studies
  • What biomarkers to include in a comprehensive assessment of the cardiovascular health of your patient.
  • How to improve cholesterol, triglycerides and other lipids with Nutritional Therapy.
  • How to address the underlying causes of hypertension with dietary and supplemental strategies.
  • What vascular resistance is and why it is important and how to optimise it with a specific nutritional strategy
  • Current government recommendations on how to reduce heart disease.
  • How to maintain minimal levels of insulin, a major hormone of influence in cardiovascular health.

We intend to give you more confidence in this subject, increasing your ability to help a wider range of people with greater efficacy. You will be given effective and practical information on how to best support your patients’ cardiovascular health.

Part Three: Healthy Aging – Hormonal Balance

Weds 8th December 2010 – Institute of Physics

Balanced Hormones

The Nutri-Link Seminar in December 2010 entitled “Healthy Aging – Hormonal Balance” is the third of the three 2010 National Seminars on the theme of Healthy Aging. The presentation will teach you sound nutritional recommendations for achieving measurable benefits to the hormonal system in both men and women which you can then share with and witness in your patients, as well as incorporate into your own and your family’s lives.

Antony will present the major conditions that are linked to hormones or imbalances in hormones that consequently lead to reduced well-being, and increased morbidity and even premature death. Antony will then present researched methods for improving these hormonal imbalances to help achieve a healthier aging process. Clinical evidence of the benefits of Nutritional Therapy on a number of hormonal imbalances will be provided through the use of case histories.

You will learn these things:

  • The role of hormones on health conditions that lead to increased morbidity and reduced mortality, including heart disease, neurological disorders and osteoporosis.
  • The key hormones involved in unhealthy & healthy aging.
  • Specific Nutritional Strategies to prevent hormonal imbalances as we age, including the production, the metabolism, the sensitivity and the detoxification of hormones.
  • The importance of locally produced inflammatory “paracrine” hormone-like messengers in human health and disease, and how to address them with Nutritional Therapy.
  • The ideal dietary macro-nutrient balance to support insulin and cortisol output and function.
  • How to maintain minimal levels of insulin, a major hormone of influence in cardiovascular health.
  • The impact of dietary fatty acids on hormonal balance, and how to achieve an optimal balanced intake.
  • The ability to support healthy levels of testosterone in aging men.
  • The ability to moderate oestrogen expression.
  • The ability to improve melatonin levels.
  • The ability to reduce androgens with Nutritional Therapy.
  • The key nutrients and supplements involved in balancing hormones and promoting healthy longevity.

We intend to give you more confidence in the subject matter, increasing your ability to help a wider range of people with greater efficacy. You will be given practical information on how to support your patients’ hormonal balance, a major cause of decreased quality of life in aging as well as a powerful influence on diseases.
